I was born in 1962. Coming from an artistic family. Mother a graduated fashion designer, father a poet. In my early years you could find me in the recordstore shopping for great new music on vinyl that I could play as a deejay. Enjoying people dancing and having a great time was a favourite way of living.
After several years of working as a deejay I changed my life to work as a designer. I started my own company called Ringel Design. I have done a lot of graphic-, industrial-, interior-, packaging and brandconcepts for great fashion and cosmetic companies in those 30 years. I’am very pleased that I have had the opportunity to do this.
Years ago I started painting. I paint large, abstract, raw, unpolished images, ‘art driven by music’, that’s where the inspiration comes from. This is the reason why I name my paintings after my inspirators or their tracks. To mention a few; Fink, Daughter, Arve Henriksen, Alaskan Tapes, Olga Wojciechowska, Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, Apparat… names of singers, songwriters, musicians or bands. Musicians with a great sense of music. I want to thank them for all the inspiration that their music gives me.
Next to my paintings I also make special photography series. These series are called ‘Silence’ and ‘Silence Gold’. Both series are all photographic ‘Remixed’ paintings.
All the paintings have all been photographed with a special technique, creating completely new images. By focusing on a small detail from the large work, there is an alienation, but at the same time a recognition to see and to feel. These photos are seen as endless mysterious landscapes in which you can dream away.
